Health Sciences Charter School prepares students for career and college with 21st century skills-the very skills that employers and colleges require for our students to be successful:

  • Life and career skills
  • Media and technology skills
  • Learning and innovation skills
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Mastery of the core subjects in school

Our Work-Based Learning Program offers students unique, valuable opportunities that differentiates Health Sciences among area high schools.

We are literally next door to the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, the center of health and biomedical sciences innovation in Western New York. Our partners include Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Kaleida Health, Catholic Health, ECMC, Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo, BlueCross/BlueShield of Western New York, Independent Health  and many more! These extraordinary partnerships allow us to give students meaningful internships, job shadowing opportunities, and mentorships.

Health Sciences students discover what it’s like to be a doctor, physical therapist, nurse, health information specialist, or hospital architect before they graduate from high school and travel the pathway to their chosen profession! An education in our Work-Based Learning Program involves bringing careers to the classroom and the classroom to careers.

Our students graduate with a wide range of real-life experiences, augmenting their academic achievements.

Whatever their career path, our Work-Based Learning Program prepares students for life. This is just a sampling of the opportunities available to our students:
  • Interview skills practice
  • Job readiness workshops
  • Networking opportunities
  • Health professional mentors
