K-3 Elementary School Expansion
Welcome to Health Sciences Charter School!
Thank you for inquiring about the proposed Elementary School that will serve grades K-3 in the city of Buffalo.
Since Health Sciences opened in 2010, as a grades 9-12 high school, the vision was to eventually grow to a full K-12. Upon receiving a five-year Charter Renewal from the NYS Education Department this summer, now is the right time to begin this expansion!
The next chapter for Health Sciences will begin with the addition of grades K and 1 in September 2026, pending NYSED approval, and add a grade each year thereafter. This new choice Elementary School, affectionately known as "Little Health" will have the same supportive and equitable learning environment that students and families experience in the high school, and will focus on foundational skills in math and literacy, career readiness, and health and wellness.
Learning will be FUN, and students will be challenged to think in new, creative ways, in order to set them on a path that will prepare them to pursue their dreams while also becoming health advocates for their families, neighbors, and community leaders. Families will be encouraged to participate, and our healthcare industry partners will be in the building on a weekly basis.
What makes the school even more unique is it is tuition free and doesn't require an interview, admission test, or a complicated application to apply. All students are welcome including those with special education needs and/or English Language Learners. Transportation will be provided.
