Health Sciences Charter School to begin expansion with a K-1 Program
Health Sciences Charter School (HSCS) has been serving the Buffalo Niagara Region since 2010, providing a pathway to careers in healthcare for local students. What began as a high school with 100 9th graders has since grown to a thriving school of 480 students. Now, we’re excited to announce the next step in our journey: a full K-12 expansion, starting with Kindergarten and 1st graders in September 2026.
The original mission of HSCS was clear: address the critical shortage of skilled healthcare workers in our region. With a strong focus on preparing students for careers in health-related fields, our school has consistently produced graduates who are well-equipped to meet this growing demand. The addition of elementary grades, which we’re affectionately calling “Little Health,” will allow us to nurture an interest in healthcare from an even younger age, ensuring our students are ready for success as they grow and develop.
This expansion follows a significant milestone for HSCS—our 5-year charter renewal, the maximum amount of time a charter can be renewed. This is the first time in our history we’ve received a full 5-year renewal, and we are thrilled to continue serving our community with the same dedication and excellence that have defined us since day one.
As we prepare to welcome “Little Health” to the family, we remain committed to our mission of providing a quality education that sets our students up for success in the healthcare industry. Stay tuned for more updates as we look forward to this exciting new chapter in the HSCS story.
