Dear Health Sciences Families and Community Members,

I am incredibly proud to share some landmark news for our school. On May 19th, the New York State Education Department officially approved our application to expand Health Sciences Charter School to include Kindergarten, 7th, and 8th grades starting this fall.

Since we opened our doors in 2010, our school has been defined by the success and resilience of our students. We have consistently achieved a graduation rate above 90% while serving a student body where more than 90% of our families live at or below the poverty level. While we are immensely proud of these high school results, we have always known that we could make an even deeper impact by reaching our students earlier in their educational journeys.

This expansion is about more than just adding classrooms; it is about providing steady support through every critical stage of a child's development. As our Principal, Nichole Walls, often notes, our goal is to build a strong foundation early on, helping students master the basics long before they reach high school so they are prepared for success from day one.

By introducing these new grade levels, we are fulfilling our long-term vision to become a complete K-12 institution. We can now guide our students from their very first day of kindergarten all the way through graduation and into high-demand careers in the healthcare field.

Our team is already hard at work preparing for the upcoming school year. We are finalizing a rigorous new curriculum and upgrading our facilities to ensure our incoming kindergarten and middle school students receive the same exceptional education our high school is known for.

Applications for the 2026–2027 school year are officially open. To begin the registration process, please visit our website at healthsciencescharterschool.org.

If you have any questions regarding enrollment, please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Hanesworth in our admissions office at fhanesworth@healthsciencescharterschool.org. We will also be posting updates regarding upcoming parent information sessions on our website and official Facebook and Instagram pages.

Thank you for your continued partnership and dedication to Health Sciences. Together, we are building a brighter, stronger future for our children and our entire community.

Sincerely,

Robert Baxter Head of Schools
