What is the FAFSA?
The First Steps
- Apply for financial aid by using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid - FAFSA. Even if you think you might not qualify for much, you could be limiting other aid options and institutional aid if you do not submit your FAFSA.
- Seniors and parents-don't forget to sign up now for your FSA identification number. You will need this to complete your FAFSA application
- Seniors may begin filing their FAFSA applications on OCTOBER 1. Not sure when you school's filing deadline is? Check the OASFAA chart, or locate the deadline on the college website.
New York State Aid
The Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), New York's largest grant program, helps eligible New York residents attending in-state postsecondary institutions pay for tuition. TAP grants are based on the applicant's and his or her family's New York State taxable income.
